Conquering the Clutter Giant in your House

Clutter is a continual problem for most people.  There is a lot of ‘stuff’ that we need in order to run our house and business efficiently.  Organizing all that ‘stuff’ is an awesome challenge.

What causes clutter?

  • Lack of motivation.  You may not feel like cleaning up clutter and besides it will be a mess again in a day or
    two.
  • Lack of discipline. You would rather do something else then deal with clutter.
  • Lack of knowledge.  You may not know how to pick-up clutter. You have not been educated in this area of your life.
  • Lack of space.  You do not know what to do with it once you pick it up. Your closets, drawers, and cabinets are
    filled to capacity.
  • Paralysis has set in.  It is such a mess you freeze and do not know where to begin.
  • Other people in your life.  Your family, or work associates do not put things away, which causes clutter in your
    area of responsibility.

How do you deal with clutter?

  • Do not live in the ‘wish me land’ but make a decision to change the way you currently do things.
  • Have a realistic plan.  Read books, magazines, and articles about clutter control.
  • Devote one hour per week to an organization project that deals with clutter removal.  Write this activity in
your daily planner so you do not schedule something else.
